We will have two interns – one from Georgetown University and one from the University of Maryland – working with us this summer. The first step to this work is to conduct a member survey. This is our way of hearing from our members about ... CLICK TO READ MORE

Workers Memorial Day is Thursday, April 28, 2022. Decades of struggle by working people and our unions have improved working conditions and made jobs safer, but it has not been enough. This year we are coming together to strengthen our rights and protections to ensure everyone can come home safely at the end of a work shift - and without chronic illnesses from toxic exposures at work. CUB President Antoinette Ryan-Johnson asks all CUB members to wear blue if possible. If you can, take photos with other union members and coworkers to share with the union to raise awareness on social media. There is also a virtual Workers Memorial Wall and will be a live streaming event by the US Department of Labor and the United Support and Memorial for Workplace Fatalities at 1:00 p.m. EST on the 28th. It is of the utmost importance that the state and city ensure that sewage and wastewater run off does not pollute the Chesapeake Bay. Our members at wastewater treatment facilities across the city are eager to do everything in their power to give those in the Baltimore region trust in the safety and cleanliness of our environment. We welcome updated infrastructure and other necessary mechanical and technical improvements that will help our members do their jobs. Most important for us however is the question of resources. Neither the city nor the state can continue to understaff and under-resource environmental agencies and expect... CLICK FOR MORE
