The City Union of Baltimore (CUB) has continued to advocate for healthier and safer worksites for Baltimore City Employees. CUB documented this in our 2022 health and safety report produced with support from our state federation AFT Maryland and the national AFT. Below is a statement attributable to President Antoinette Ryan-Johnson following the recently updated OIG report on DPW worksites.

The recent findings of Inspector General Cummings are deeply troubling and of great concern. CUB has been attempting to provide stopgap solutions to ensure city workers have accommodations that allow them to do their jobs in crippling heat. We have gone so far as to purchase bottles of water and bags of ice and deliver them to city offices. While we concede that is not enough, we do expect and demand more from Baltimore City.
