CUB Sick Leave Bank Donations

The Baltimore City Office of the Labor Commissioner grants each CUB employee the opportunity to donate 1-day of sick leave into the Sick Leave Bank each year. As a CUB employee you will also have the opportunity to apply to use sick leave from this Sick Leave Bank in the event of an emergency.

As you are aware, because of the COVID-19 Pandemic most City offices are teleworking. Therefore, we are asking that you email your HR Department by Monday, November 9, 2020 at 3pm and acknowledge your intent to participate or to deny participation in the Sick Leave Bank.

Thanks for your prompt attention and assistance in this matter. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your HR Manager via email. Please note that your Timekeeper may also ask/have you verify your sick bank donation as well.

In Solidarity,
Antoinette Ryan-Johnson
President, City Union of Baltimore

The City Union of Baltimore issued the following statement in response.

Baltimore, MD - CUB is baffled at the Mayor's decision to lay off more than five dozen DPW employees. Our members provide a vital service to the city and we are blindsided by this decision. Ultimately, the decision invites more questions than it does provide answers. One question we have is why our members who were on permission leave on account of the Coronavirus, were not put back to work with the necessary personal protective equipment, to provide accurate and timely readings for Baltimore city and county residents. Once health officials provided guidance as to how to resume some activities with precaution and safety, our members were ready to work. However, this administration ...
