City Union of Baltimore announces their Annual Holiday Celebration, to be held Friday, December 6, 2019, 8:00 p.m. to midnight, at The Champagne Room, 2701 W Patapsco Avenue, Baltimore MD 21230. Member tickets are $25.00 + 5 non-expired nonperishable items. All CUB members must present valid ID for ticket purchase and at the event, no exceptions. Guest tickets are $60 and are available at CUB or on Eventbrite.

The job of a union is to ensure fairness for its members. The City Union of Baltimore (CUB) heard from our members and leapt into action to ensure fairness. This issue at hand: members who are supervisors in solid waste had maxed out their comp time but were denied overtime. These members were working overtime however to account for staffing shortages in the department. Members were rightfully frustrated with what was a patently unfair rule and as they should, they brought the issue to their union.

Upon being informed of this, CUB directed our attention to this issue to soon right this wrong. A

President Antoinette Ryan-Johnson, on behalf of the union, has been in constant communication with Trina’s family and they have joined with CUB to ensure justice for Trina. A huge step in ensuring justice for our dear sister is a thorough monitoring of the investigation of her death, and a prevention of any future workplace injuries or fatalities.

The City Union of Baltimore hosted their annual membership meeting  on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, to update those in the union of all the ongoing affairs of the local. There was a solid attendance that filled most of the main room in the union hall. One of the strengths of the union is a strength of the city, and that is its brilliant diversity. That diversity was on display during the meeting. The meeting largely consisted of updates and reports. The retiree chapter report was given by Donald Morris as he touched on a number of issues that the current retiree chapter is working on including

Beyond being a CUB member and faithful employee of the City of Baltimore, she was a wife, mother, sister, and daughter. Each of her colleagues spoke highly of her commitment and dedication to the job. It pains us that a person with so much life ahead of them dies so young and tragically.
