CUB Retirees Charter Celebration

The City Union of Baltimore, Local #800 (CUB) chartered their retiree chapter, CUB-R, and held an immaculate reception to commemorate the occasion. CUB board members as well as current active members were in attendance. The event was held in the large conference room of the Baltimore Teachers Union. Retirees, AFT-Maryland staff, and AFT National Staff worked diligently to get chapter chartered and operating.

Working members and retirees alike enjoyed delicious food and engaging conversation among themselves and members of other AFT-Maryland unions who came out in solidarity. The retiree chapter has been pivotal in lobbying legislators in Annapolis on issues affecting public employees and has even made a digital footprint with their very own Facebook page. They are excited and eager to continue the important union business of CUB to protect hard-fought gains for public sector employees, even as they enjoy retirement.
