Retirement Farewell: Delores Powell

The time has come for me to turn a new chapter in my life. As of December 31st, I am retiring as a 45 year employee of the Baltimore City Public School System, 17 years with the City Union of Baltimore.

I have had the privilege and honor to be associated with the City Union of Baltimore since it was organized in 1987; serving as a steward, area vice president, executive board member and CUB employee. Being a part of the union movement has afforded me so many priceless and unforgettable moments and experiences. I have travelled all across this great country of ours and made friends in every city visited, whether servicing members, phone banking, rallies, organizing, training, conferences, or where ever we have come together.

I have had the privilege to meet and work with the Baltimore Teachers Union, AFSCME, FOP, Fire Fighters and Officers, AFT-Maryland, AFT, SEIU, OPEIU, Metropolitan Baltimore Council, MD/DC AFL-CIO leaders and members; officials and managers in Baltimore City government and the Baltimore City Public School System; and community groups over the course of my career.

Because of the special solidarity I share with you, my union brothers and sisters, my life is so much richer!

Thank you for your love, support, professionalism, encouragement and your friendship.  I wish you all the very best of everything. Have a safe, and Happy Holiday season and a prosperous new year.

In solidarity,
Delores M. Powell
