CUB Statement on SCOTUS Decision in Janus v. AFSCME
Statement from City Union of Baltimore President Antoinette Ryan-Johnson on the SCOTUS Decision in Janus v. AFSCME Council 31
Today, judicial activists on the Supreme Court sided with corporate interest to weaken public sector unions by significantly reducing funding and creating incentives to erode Union membership with their ruling in Janus v. AFSCME Council 31. But, as always, we will stand firm against the headwinds of decades long, anti-union sentiment, because our members know: In unity there is strength.
The Maryland/DC Alliance for Retired Americans held a statewide meeting at the Baltimore Teachers Union. The group gathered to discuss a number of issues pertinent to members of the organization. Retirees from the City Union of Baltimore and the Baltimore Teachers Union made up a significant number of those in attendance. Retirees from other AFL-CIO unions including AFSCME and SEIU were also in attendance.

City Union of Baltimore participated in the Mayor's Spring Cleanup event. This was Baltimore’s 19th annual spring cleaning event, which encourages neighbors throughout the City to work together to sweep, rake, and plant.
